Decks

Neighbor’s that don’t know me too well, and acquaintances at coffee shops call me “The Card Guy”.  I am fascinated by cards, because unlike most books, a deck of cards isn’t bound.  It can be shuffled more ways than there are stars in the Milky Way Galaxy, and every time you read a deck, it’s like a brand new story.  No, I’m not a fortune teller.  I can’t tell you the future, but when I see a sequence of cards, I can perceive tensions and intrigues that would put any Hollywood movie to shame.  And if I were left on a deserted island with nothing but a deck of cards, it would be a sure bet that I wouldn’t be bored any time soon!

Baker’s Art Deck

My art deck needs no introduction.  Everybody knows what a deck of playing cards is.  There are a thousand ways to use a deck of cards.  I designed this deck for myself specifically for the various forms of Solitaire that I am fond of.  But it will play Go Fish just as easily as it will play Gin Rummy.  Anyone furnished with the proper key will also find that this deck is much more structured and well thought out than most of the decks you will find at the drug store, and it is also excellent for color therapy, pathworking, and meditation.  My art deck is now available from my printing partner.

Ring Solitaire

The Ring Solitaire Deck is a deck of 90 cards designed specifically for the Ring Solitaire game which can be played alone, or with any number of friends.  The game is quite simple.  Shuffle the deck and then lay down 3 cards.  The rest of the deck becomes your draw pile.  Draw one card at a time from your draw pile, then lay it on any card with the same color ring.  If the card you draw doesn’t match any of the existing rings, then lay it next to the initial 3 and draw another card.  If the top card on one of the piles matches the top card from another pile, then consolidate the piles.  If it doesn’t match any of the piles, start a new pile.  The goal of the game is to end with only one pile.  But don’t get frustrated if you can’t do this, because the whole point of the game is to enjoy the artwork on the cards, and not necessarily to win.  Another way to use the cards is to choose your favorite card as a cover card, and then to go through the deck one card at a time until you come back to the cover card.  Another way to use the deck is to simply lay down several cards next to each other and then reflect on how the cards make you feel.  The Ring Solitaire deck may now be purchased from my printing partner.
